Horse Riding between the Sacred Rivers

Horse trekking in the Terelj National Park, sacred Tuul river valley, amazing Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve and the quiet Kherlen valley is a fantastic experience! Mongolia is a wonderful place for horse trekkers with its vast green steppes with short hills, beautiful mountains and river valleys. Its deep blue sky makes the trip more beautiful and enjoyable. This horse trek features Mongolian forest mountains, bare mountains with lower altitude, rivers, lakes and hilly steppes. Taking part in the exciting horse trekking you will visit the famous Terelj National Park, trek crossing the sacred Tuul valley toward Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve - a hidden paradise. During this horseback riding trip you will have opportunities to visit local nomadic families to see how they live and tend their livestock, watching the incredibly starry skies at nights and most of all you will be totally refreshed after the trip!

TOUR ITINERARY
 
 
Day 1.
Arrival in Mongolia.
Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, transfer spectacular Terelj National Park. Visit the Turtle Rock and the Temple of Peace, hiking and relaxing.

Day 2.
Terelj - Tuul River Valley.
This morning we will start the horse riding to the south east to the sacred Tuul river valley crossing the Terelj mountain at Yoliin Pass. Today's most wonderful moment will be crossing the river Tuul on horse back. Riding and enjoying the nature beauty. Camping in tents under starry skies. 20-25km.

Day 3.
Tuul River Valley - Giant Genghis Monument Complex - Sand Dunes.
Today we ride our horses in the pictorial mountains of Ar Janchivlin. This beautiful place is home for wildlife such as wolves, rabbits, marmots and many more. Before reaching the mountain we will visit the spectacular new monument of Genghis Khaan and view the Elstei sands. 25-30km.

Day 4.
Sand Dunes - Mountains.
Our today's destination is the Ar Khust mountains. We will ride our horses through the valley of Ovor Janchivlin and reach the mountain in the evening. We will stop at a nomadic family and witness their hospitality. We will enjoy spending the night in tents under the starry skies. 25-30km.

Day 5.
Mountains - Gun-Galuut nature reserve.
We will ride our horses through the northernmost part of the Great Mongolian Steppes to the amazing Gun-Galuut nature reserve. On the way we will stop at the small lakes Ayaga and Ikh-Gun to admire the rare birds such as the White Cranes, Whooper Swans, Hooded Cranes and many more.

Day 6.
Gun-Galuut.
Today we will enjoy a relaxing day in the serene nature reserve. Hiking to Mt. Baits to view the Argali wild sheep and other wildlife. Optional fishing or kayaking on the river Kherlen. Meals and stay overnight at lovely Steppe Nomads camp

Day 7.
Gun-Galuut - Ulaanbaatar.
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to the hotel. Sightseeing: Bogd Khan's Palace Museum, Buddha Park and Zaisan Memorial. Folk concert and farewell dinner.

Day 8.
Departure.
Transfer to the airport/train station after breakfast.
