Ulaanbaatar- Terelj National Park- Dog Sledding to Giant Chinggis Khan Statue

In the morning travel to Terelj National Park to begin your adventure. Here you will meet your guides, expert mushers and most excitingly, your dogs. Today you will learn how to ride a sled and control the dogs on easy trails to the Chinggis Khan statue. This park is spectacular, and even in winter many nomads still live in this valley. The fauna is diverse and the silence intensified by the low temperatures, creating a magnificent atmosphere. Here we will stay with a local family in their beautiful winterized ger camp. Accommodation: Nomadic family ger, B+L+D

Dog Sledding over Two Rivers

Have breakfast with the family before starting your first full day of dog sledding. You will travel across a number of frozen rivers, each more beautiful than the last. Admire the varying colours in the ice of the Tuul River, which can be pale blue one day and dark the next. In winter this very wild area is almost void of all humans, meaning it will just be our group and the dogs exploring this natural wonderland. After a full day’s ride we arrive at the Bosgo Bridge, where we will meet our transfer to our next ger camp accommodation. Accommodation: Ger camp, B+L+D

Day 4-5: Dog Sledding to Khar Us

We ride back on the Tuul River for 500 m and pass under a wooden bridge, which marks the limit between Gorkhi-Terelj Park and Khan-Khentii National Park. Afterwards we follow the many twists and turns of the river. We will stop in the afternoon at a nomad family’s camp to enjoy lunch out of the elements. This camp marks the halfway point of today’s journey. 15 more kilometers and we will reach the camp of Khar Us. Tonight you will be able to spend time with our Mongolian hosts, and learn more about their nomadic way of life. Accommodation: Nomadic family ger, B+L+D

Day exploration at Khar Us

Khar Us is the wildest and most remote destination on our Mongolian dog sledding tour, so today we will spend our time exploring the region directly around camp. There are no people here, just wildlife. In the evening return to the ger camp for a warm cup of tea and dinner. Accommodation: Ger camp, B+L+D

Dog sledding back to Bosgo Bridge

It is always hard to leave this peaceful camp, however we have a 33-kilometer ride ahead of us to Enkhtaïvan’s settlement. The distance is no problem for the dogs, as they are truly born to mush and love these winter conditions. To reach tonight’s camp we will follow the same trail back along the river. Keep an eye out for footprints of wolves, foxes and rabbits that visited after our first pass. Our driver is waiting for you at the end of the day to transfer you back to the our ger camp, complete with a hot shower and dinner waiting! Accommodation: Ger camp, B+L+D

Terelj National park- Ulaanbaatar

Say farewell to our dogs and guides before we head back to Ulaanbaatar, with a stop at Turtle Rock and the Temple of Meditation. In the city we will check-in to our hotel, then have lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon is free to rest, do some more exploring or perhaps shopping. Dinner is not included tonight. Accommodation: hotel***, B+L+D

End your tour with an included transfer to the airport or train station after breakfast. Accommodation: B
